The suspended men’s final from the St. Petersburg Open will be completed this Thursday at 5 p.m., following the qualifiers for this weekend’s Santa Barbara Open.
The final, which sees this season’s hot men’s duo of Casey Patterson and Jake Gibb taking on Nick Lucena and Theo Brunner, was abandoned two weeks ago in St. Petersburg when a dangerous weather system blew in, forcing police to shut down the event for everyone's safety.Read more...
Several beach volleyball players with local ties will be competing in Thursday’s qualifier for the AVP Santa Barbara Open.
The tournament, the sixth of a seven-event tour, runs through Sunday at West Beach.
An added treat for local fans on Thursday will be the completion of the suspended men’s final from St. Petersburg, Fla. Former UCSB star Theo Brunner and Nick Lucena are playing Jake Gibb and Casey Paterson. They were in the second set when a severe thunderstorm hit the area. Gibb-Patterson won the first set.
