Three time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings today announced her withdrawal from the FIVB Grand Slam at the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball due to an abdominal strain, but will still compete in the World Series Cup with partner Whitney Pavlik beginning Saturday.
“I am very disappointed that I won’t be able to compete in the FIVB Grand Slam,” said Walsh Jennings. “In consultation with my doctor, we felt that the potential of playing several matches in the Grand Slam would not be wise with my injury. Having the extra time off to rest will allow me more time to heal.
