BIOGRAPHY

Brooke Sweat made her pro beach volleyball career debut in 2007, competing in two AVP events with partner Kristy Hartley in Miami and Tampa Bay. The duo failed to advance past the qualifier, finishing 37th at both events. In 2008, Sweat teamed back up with Hartley for the first four events, playing in Miami, Huntington Beach, Hermosa Beach and Chicago. They had their best finish in Miami, where they placed 25th, winning their first two matches before falling in three sets in their third qualifying match. Sweat played her final two events of the seasonin Long Beach and Manhattan Beach, with Cindy Phillips. They had a best finish of 33rd at Manhattan Beach.

In 2009, Sweat teamed up with Morgan Flarity for the first six events of the season. The pair advanced out of the qualifier in just their second event together in Riverside, marking Sweat’s first main draw appearance. At the Manhattan Beach event, Sweat gained her first win in the main draw as she and Flarity defeated Gretchen Duffner and Traci Morin in straight sets. Sweat then partnered with Kristen Batt for the final two events of the season, advancing to the main draw in Chicago and finishing 25th.  Sweat and Batt competed together for one event on the AVP Young Guns Tour, taking home first place in Fenton. That same year, Sweat partnered with Tealle Hunkus for her first international competition, where they placed 41st in Aland, Finland.

Sweat continued on her partnership with Batt for the 2010 season as the duo worked their way through the qualifier in their first two events to advance to the main draw. In their second event in Santa Barbara, they placed in the top-ten, taking home 7th. The high finish earned the pair a spot in the main draw for the next two tournaments, in which they finished 13th at both Huntington Beach and Virginia Beach. In their next event in Belmar, Sweat and Batt worked their way to the main draw once again and finished 9th. In their last event of the year, the pair finished in the top-ten once again in Long Beach. They also competed in a lone AVP Young Guns event, winning the title in Fort Lauderdale.

Sweat teamed up with Jennifer Fopma for the 2012 AVP season and the duo competed in both events. They came into Cincinnati as the No. 6 seed and did not disappoint, taking down their first two opponents handily. After suffering a loss to Olympic silver-medalists Jen Kessy and April Ross, they bounced back to defeat Brooke Niles and Tyra Turner but eventually lost in the semifinals to Kerri Walsh and Nicole Branagh. The next weekend at the AVP Championships in Santa Barbara, Sweat and Fopma finished third, going undefeated in pool play before losing once again to Walsh and Branagh in the semifinals. That year marked the highest finishes for Sweat while playing on the Tour.

The pair will continue on their partnership for the 2013 season.

Sweat, a graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University, played on the inaugural Eagle volleyball team and left the school as the career leader in kills.
