BIOGRAPHY

Casey Jennings began his beach volleyball career in Chicago in 1999 with Scott Lane, with whom he placed 17th. The next year, Jennings partnered with Matt Fuerbringer for five events and the duo had a best finish of 17th in Belmar. Jennings then started the 2001 season with Sean Rosenthal and enjoyed the best finish of his early career when the duo took ninth in Huntington Beach. Jennings then partnered back up with Lane for his final five events of the season and the duo finished a best of ninth in Virginia Beach.

In his final event of 2002, Jennings propelled his way into the top five when he and partner Carl Henkel took third in Chicago in their first event together. Partnering back up with Fuerbringer for 2003, Jennings had a breakout season as the duo finished fifth or better in five of the nine events they competed in, including taking home second at four at them. As the pair continued on their partnership in 2004, Jennings captured his first AVP title at Belmar as he and Fuerbringer knocked off six straight opponents including the top three seeds at the tournament. That victory started a five-year streak of Jennings winning at least one AVP title each season (2004-08). While Jennings and Fuerbringer didn’t return to the semifinals the rest of that season, Jennings ended the season as the seventh ranked player on the Tour. 

In 2005, Jennings and Fuerbringer played in six semifinals and three finals. The duo beat the top four seeds in San Diego en route to the title and then took first again at Hermosa Beach. In 2006, Jennings and Fuerbringer advanced to semifinal seven times and took home the title in Seaside Heights in their only championship match. That same weekend, Jennings’ wife, Kerri Walsh-Jennings also won first place, making them the second married couple to win on the same weekend, joining Matt and Patty Dodd, who accomplished the feat four times.

Jennings played in his first international title match in 2009 as he and Fuerbringer fell in the championship to take home a silver medal in Poland. The duo then placed fifth at the World Championships in Stavanger and concluded the season with three ninth-places finishes, all at Grand Slam events.

In 2010, Jennings partnered with Brad Keenan and the duo placed ninth in their first two AVP and FIVB tournaments together. The pair advanced to their first FIVB semifinal in the Moscow Grand Slam where they eventually finished fourth. In his final international event of the season, Jennings partnered with Kevin Wong and won his first and lone FIVB title at The Hague, Netherlands.

In 2012, Jennings competed in the AVP’s Cincinnati event, teaming up with Bill Strickland. The pair lost their opening match to Ryan Mariano and Ed Ratledge before bouncing back to beat Dave McKienzie and Austin Rester in three sets. Jennings and Strickland’s run would then be halted as they came up short against Stein Metzger and Mark Williams to finish 13th.

Jennings grew up in Las Vegas, Nev. and is the youngest of five brothers. He attended Brigham Young University (BYU) and was a key member of the 1999 National Championship team. Jennings graduated from BYU in 2000 with a degree in sociology. He and wife, Kerri Walsh-Jennings, were married on Dec. 5, 2005 and have three children, Joey, Sundance and Scout. The family resides in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
