Olympic medallist Latvia’s Plavins finding his feet with new partner Peda

Shanghai, China, April 30, 2013 – Latvian Martins Plavins, bronze medallist from the London 2012 Olympic Games, begins the season with new partner Janis Peda. At the Fuzhou Open last week in China, Plavins and Peda did not make it out of the Qualification Tournament, but Plavins understands that the pair is still developing.
Dalhausser and Rosenthal Win Gold at Fuzhou Open

The AVP’s Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal took the gold medal at the Fuzhou Open in China on Saturday. The US duo were playing in their first tournament together and clinched the gold by beating out Italians Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo, 21-18, 24-22.
Dalhausser and Rosenthal had booked their passage into the gold medal match earlier in the day by narrowly edging Brazilians Ricardo Alex
Brazil and Netherlands withdraw from Shanghai Grand Slam

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 29, 2013 – Olympic men’s silver medallists Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego of Brazil have withdrawn from the second consecutive event of this season due to an injury received by Alison to his little finger on his left hand.
Having already missed the season opening Fuzhou Open last week, the 2011 world champions won’t be playing at the Shanghai Grand Slam, which starts on Tuesday.
Stanford's Cook named All-American in men's volleyball

Brian Cook has become the 18th player in Stanford men's volleyball history to be named first-team All-American.
The 6-foot-5 Cook ranks fourth in the nation with 4.01 kills per set while totaling 417 kills this season. Cook was a consistent performer with a total of six matches of 20-plus kills, including two season-highs of 24.
Unstoppable run for Austria’s Huber and Seidl in Fuzhou

Fuzhou, China, April 26, 2013 – Alexander Huber and Robin Seidl from Austria continue an outstanding run all the way from the Qualification Tournament to win all three matches of the day, earning a place in the semi-final at the Fuzhou Open in China.
Bottom seeded Huber and Seidl’s first match of the day was an epic battle with USA legend Todd Rogers and new partner Ryan Doherty, ending with the Austrian underdogs winning 2-1 (15-21, 24-22, 15-13).
