Kazakh Beach Pairs Show Dominance at Asian U-21 Quarterfinals

Chennai, India, May 18, 2013 – Kazakhstan showed its dominance as two men’s pairs and one women’s pair reached the semifinals of the AVC Beach Volleyball U-21 Championships on Saturday.
Kazakh pair Vladislav Pustynnikov and Sergy Bogatu beat Indian tandem of Shanakar Vaspari and Maheshkumar Charka in straight sets (21-12, 21-10) while the other Kazakh pair Viktor Pestov and Kirili Gurin followed suit by defeating another Indian team Aaron Pereira and Javid Samsu in straight sets (21-18, 21-15).
Joining the Kazakhs in the semifinals are Australia’s Tomas Hodges and Malachi Murch who eased past Omani pair Faisal Alshezawi and Ahmad Albalushi in yet another straight sets match (21-15, 21-6).

Corrientes, Argentina, May 17, 2013 - With less than one week until the start of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Corrientes Grand Slam in Argentina, FIVB.org looks back at two of the country’s most successful stars - Martin Conde and Mariano Baracetti
In five days the Argentinean city of Corrientes will make its debut on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour when it will host the Corrientes Grand Slam from May 22 to 26.
As a country, Argentina has a great deal of experience organising international beach volleyball events, with the city of Mar del Plata having already hosted five men’s events while Buenos Aires has held one women's event in 2005.
Stadium construction begins for FIVB World Championships

Stare Jablonki, Poland, May 15, 2013 – Construction has begun on the main stadium in Stare Jablonki, Poland, where the brightest stars of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour will compete in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships from July 1 to 7.
Stare Jablonki’s stadium centre will accommodate 9,000 spectators along the picturesque shores of Lake Mazury.
Staged every two years, the ninth edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships features 48 teams in each gender taking part.
Switzerland’s Gerson-Prawdzic warming up well for Corrientes

Zurich, Switzerland, May 16, 2013 – Mirco Gerson and Alexei Prawdzic, beach volleyball’s newly formed duo from Switzerland, celebrated their surprise first victory at the 2013 Coop Beach Tour which took place in Zurich. The pair are now hoping to qualify for the Corrientes Grand Slam in Argentina, which will take place from May 22 to 26.

Margate to host national beach volleyball finals for first time

Margate is set to host the National Beach Volleyball Finals for the first time ever later this summer.
The town’s golden sands have regularly hosted the qualifying heats for the finals, but will now hold the showpiece event in the sport after beating off competition from other venues.
