February 26: AVP Athletes Visit Children’s Hospital L.A.
Several AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour athletes donated their time to visit patients at the Children's Hospital L.A. on Feb. 26 through the AVP's community outreach initiative, AVP Cares. The event started with a Meet and Greet in the hospital's Healing and Meditation Garden, where players taught volleyball skills, assisted with arts and crafts, and signed autographs and took photos. The players then visited more than 50 in patient rooms, distributing gifts and brightening the day for kids who have been hospitalized for months.
"The feedback has been amazing from numerous people at the hospital," said Whitney Nifong, CHLA Major and Planned Giving Associate Director. "The players were fantastic with the kids, and I must personally thank all of you for arranging this to bring so many smiles to our special kids and families!"
Special thanks to the following AVP stars for their participation in the CHLA visit: Angie Akers, Paige Davis, Eric Fonoimoana, Ashley Groothuis, Dane Jensen, Angela Knopf, Nick Lucena, Holly McPeak, John Moran, Christal Morrison, Sarah Straton, Aaron Wexler, Chrissie Zartman.
