Casey was highly recruited by top ten NCAA Division I schools as a setter for Newbury Park High School. He went on to play for Brigham Young University (BYU). He played as setter, outside hitter, libero and finished as an opposite hitter his senior year. Casey was named to the prestigious Outrigger Invitational and Hall of Fame Morgan Classic All-Tournament Teams.

After college, Casey went on to play indoor professionally in Puerto Rico (2005, 2007) and in Europe (2006). Casey played in the Swedish Elite Professional League as an outside hitter for the Falkenberg professional team, and led his team to the finals where they won the gold medal. In 2007, he took his team, San Sebastian, to the finals as the starting opposite hitter.

Casey has been consistently climbing the ranks on the AVP tour since 2007 when he started out ranked 83rd. Casey is now in the top 25 and is ranked 2nd on tour for hitting percentage. In 2009, Casey got his best career finish with current partner Ty Loomis when they placed 5th in Huntington Beach. Just over a month later, Casey and Loomis earned their first AVP victories in Coney Island. Casey competed in an event on the Swedish Beach Volleyball Tour in June 2009 with Hans Stolfus. They won the event and defeated Sweden's Olympic team in the finals.

Casey was nominated by the AVP to compete in the AVP Paul Mitchell "Hot Shot" competition. The "Hot Shot" award highlights eight AVP athletes who stand out from the crowd. Casey is a colorful player that grabs fans' attention and commands fan loyalty through his explosive play and energetic personality.

Casey and his wife, Lexi, were married in 2005. They became parents for the first time in June 2009 when Lexi gave birth to their son, Cash.
