Wilson's AVP ball will be used at CBVA events in 2010, giving aspiring pros a chance to use the same ball as stars such as Matt Olson and Sean Scott.
The AVP Tour and the California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) are excited to announce the CBVA as the AVP’s exclusive partner on all AVP grassroots-level events in California in 2010. Together, the two organizations will run qualifier events with AVP main draw spots on the line.
“Teaming up with the CBVA is a major step for AVP and for the sport of beach volleyball,” said Justin Kamm, AVP Senior Vice President. “Our goal is to provide more opportunities for beach volleyball players in California and around the country to make it on the Pro Tour.”
“By sharing resources and sponsors with our affiliated league family, the Sport strengthens and grows,” said Jason Hodell, AVP CEO. “Outreach to the nation’s volleyball community is critical to the AVP growth strategy and this is a terrific program.”
The AVP and the CBVA will put on six dual gender qualifier events. The winner of each event will earn a main draw spot in a 2010 Southern California AVP event, with two entries good for the historic Manhattan Beach Open, for a total of 12 main draw berths. Also as part of the partnership, the AVP and Wilson become the exclusive volleyball sponsor of the CBVA.
“We are grateful to the AVP and Wilson for their support and giving every aspiring volleyball player the opportunity to use the same ball the AVP endorses and provide continuity in the volleyball community,” said Chris Brown, CBVA President. “The CBVA is proud to continue being the major feeder program to professional beach volleyball.”
Dates and locations for the AVP/CBVA qualifiers are still being determined. All AVP/CBVA qualifier participants must be AVP members. AVP membership information will be available soon on AVP.com.
