AVPNext athletes will compete for more than a title at the Oct. 17-18 AVPNext/Wilson National Championships. The Siesta Key, Fla., event will be a wake-up call to beach volleyball pros in the making, as it is the only AVPNext event of the year to offer AVP points.
This marks the second straight year AVPNext players in the Open division can boost their AVP standings. AVP points awarded will go toward seeding and qualifying for the 2010 Tour. Seeding and qualifying is based on players' best four out of last five finishes, but AVP points earned in Siesta Key can only help point totals.
AVP points will be awarded to teams finishing in the top seven. First place will win 120 AVP points (60 per player), equivalent to a 25th-place finish on the Tour. Second place will take home 110 AVP points; third, 100 (equivalent to 33rd on the Tour); fifth, 91; and seventh, 82 (equivalent to 41st on the Tour).
