Top seeds Nicole Branagh/Elaine Youngs and Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers took home titles at the AVP Crocs Tour Muskegon Open presented by Gatorade. The win today marked Branagh/Youngs' eighth AVP Crocs Tour victory of 2009, and Dalhausser/Rogers' seventh.

After losing a Round 4 match to fourth-seeded Priscilla Lima/Tatiana Minello, Branagh/Youngs faced them again in Sunday's final and emerged victorious, 21-14, 24-22.

"You have to bounce back from the losses," said Branagh, who had 28 kills in the championship match. "You have to learn from them."

Sunday's win also marked Youngs' 50th career title, putting her sixth on the all-time wins list. She is now tied with Kathy Gregory, whose career spanned 1968-1990. Gregory was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1989; Elaine Youngs is sure to be enshrined one day as well.

"I wanted 50, to get that number off my back," Youngs said of the milestone. "And I want to thank Kathy Gregory, who was really so instrumental in building this sport for women."

To advance to the final, Branagh and Youngs defeated third-seeded Annett Davis and Jenny Johnson Jordan 21-19, 21-15. Lima/Minello eliminated ninth-seeded Katie Lindquist/Tracy Lindquist 22-20, 21-13.

In the men's final, Dalhausser/Rogers made quick work of fourth-seeded Brad Keenan/Nick Lucena, who were playing in their first final as a team. The final score was 22-20, 21-10.

Dalhausser and Rogers have now won five straight titles, two on the SWATCH-FIVB international tour and three on the AVP Crocs Tour: Hermosa Beach, San Francisco, and now Muskegon. Sunday's finals continued a 29-match win streak.

"After Manhattan Beach, I decided I need to start having more fun," Rogers said. "In sports, it's tough to do well, to win, if you're not having fun."

Dalhausser/Rogers handily defeated sixth-seeded John Mayer/Jeff Nygaard 21-14, 21-12 to advance to the final, while Keenan/Lucena upset second-seeded John Hyden/Sean Scott 17-21, 27-25, 15-11.

Second-seeded two-time gold medalist Kerri Walsh and partner Rachel Wacholder finished tied for fifth after forfeiting their Contender's Bracket match Sunday morning. They also forfeited their Round 4 matchup Saturday afternoon, both due to Wacholder's nagging shoulder injury.
