AVP Fantasy Volleyball managers have a new weapon at their disposal heading into the Crocs Slam Bud Light Hermosa Beach Open presented by Virgin America.
With Kerri Walsh set to make her 2009 debut at the Aug. 6-9 tournament after giving birth to her first son in May, the AVP superstar and two-time Olympic gold medalist is now available to fantasy volleyball managers everywhere.
Walsh’s initial price is $10.51 million, making her the third-highest-priced woman in the game behind Lisa Rutledge ($13.40 million) and Dianne DeNecochea ($10.87 million).
Rachel Wacholder, Walsh's teammate for the rest of the season, is also returning after giving birth and is available in the game. In 2004 Walsh and Wacholder won two FIVB events as partners.
In AVP Fantasy Volleyball, managers receive $30 million to assemble teams of eight players (four men, four women). Player prices fluctuate from tournament to tournament based on performance in four stats used for scoring: aces per game, blocks per game, digs per game, and hitting percentage. Stats are weighed differently for men and women, although aces, blocks, and hitting percentage remain significantly more important than digs for both genders.
The manager of the team with the most points after each AVP event wins a prize, with a Gatorade Prize Pack and two VIP passes to the 2009/10 AVP event of the winner’s choice on the line at Hermosa Beach. Click here to sign up for free for AVP Fantasy Volleyball and your chance to own Kerri Walsh!
