UCLA alumna Annett Davis goes for the kill against former Trojans Jen Kessy and April Ross in Huntington Beach earlier this season.
Trojans and Bruins are coming together in Southern California.
USC and UCLA fans alike are invited to attend the AVP Crocs Slam Bud Light Hermosa Beach Open presented by Virgin America to support former Trojans and Bruins on the AVP Tour and enjoy discounts on tickets and merchandise. In the spirit of the rivalry, a challenge match is also on tap.
Competition is underway at AVP.com, where USC and UCLA students, alumni and fans receive a $5 discount on Saturday and Sunday general admission by purchasing tickets online and using promo code AVPUSC or AVPUCLA. The school that sells the most tickets will receive recognition on Center Court. Fans decked out in their school's apparel or accessories will also receive a 10 percent discount at the AVP Merchandise Tent.
At neighboring tents in Sponsor Village, each school will promote its fall sports, give away prizes, and host autograph sessions featuring current student-athletes and former volleyball standouts.
Highlighting weekend festivities is the USC-UCLA Challenge Match between Trojan and Bruin greats. The six-on-six coed exhibition is scheduled to take place Sunday on Center Court at approximately 2:30 p.m. Rosters remain to be finalized, but expected to compete for USC are national team members Donald Suxho and Brook Billings and legends Tim Hovland and Steve Obradovich. Chrissie Zartman and Julie Romias plus legends Sinjin Smith and Jim Menges are slated to play for UCLA.
Join the fun as the Men and Women of Troy "Fight On" against the "Sons of Westwood" in a crosstown clash for Hermosa Beach bragging rights!
