It was the first Final Four appearance for Patterson and just the second for Loomis.

Seventh-seeded Ty Loomis and Casey Patterson upset top seeds John Hyden and Sean Scott 26-24, 21-19 to claim their first title, both as individuals and as a team at the AVP Crocs Slam Lumber Liquidators Coney Island Open Presented by Kentucky Grilled Chicken.

“It was a dream come true,” Patterson said. “John and Sean are playing better than anyone in the world right now.”
In addition to being the team’s first title, today marks the first finals appearance for both players as individuals and as a team. It was the first Final Four appearance for Patterson and just the second for Loomis. They also snapped Hyden and Scott’s 16-match win streak and stopped them from winning their third-straight event.

“Since the Olympics, no one has been able to beat [gold medalists] Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers twice in a row except for Sean and John, so to keep up with them feels pretty good,” Pattterson continued.

To advance to today’s final, Patterson and Loomis defeated second-seeded John Mayer and Jeff Nygaard 17-21, 21-16, 15-12. Hyden and Scott made quick work of tenth-seeded Mike Morrison and Eyal Zimet 21-12, 21-11.
