Fans at Sunday's Crocs Slam Bud Light Manhattan Beach Open are in for a rare form of bonus volleyball. Anyone who has ever been to the Manhattan Beach Surf Festival Charles Saikley Memorial Six-Man Beach Volleyball Tournament knows there is no event like it in the world. AVP Pro Beach Volleyball will honor the raucous spirit and fun-filled tradition of the "Six-Man"and embrace its common athletic and cultural ties with a four-team exhibition tournament Sunday, July 19 at the AVP Crocs Slam Bud Light Manhattan Beach Open.

"The Six-Man is such a big part of the beach volleyball lifestyle and community," said Canyon Ceman, an AVP executive and Six-Man participant. "So many AVP athletes come out to play for fun, and it's really a great way to let loose and enjoy the beach while still playing the sport we love. We're looking forward to getting a taste of what’s to come during the preview matches at the AVP Manhattan Beach Open."

Current AVP athletes and former stars will do battle in two semifinal matches on Sunday at approximately 11 a.m. on the outside courts at the Manhattan Beach Open. The winners will play each other in an abridged final match on AVP Stadium Court at approximately 1:15 p.m., prior to the women’s final of the AVP Crocs Slam Bud Light Manhattan Beach Open. The winners of the Six-Man preview will receive bragging rights and a $500 bar tab at a local Manhattan Beach watering hole.

The July 19 matches will serve as a preview for the Saikley Six-Man event, which will be held Aug. 1 and 2 at the Manhattan Beach Pier. It is not officially affiliated with the AVP Tour.
