Elaine Youngs and Nicole Branagh will be the team to beat this weekend in Ocean City.
After two weeks off, the AVP Crocs Tour hits the road again this weekend as it makes its way to Ocean City, Maryland. This weekend marks the first East Coast stop of the 2009 season and is the first time the AVP will return to Ocean City since its last visit there in 1996.
On the men’s side of competition, the top seeded team of Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers will come to Ocean City ready to reclaim their top spot, after falling to John Hyden and Sean Scott in finals of the Atlanta Open. Hyden and Scott will hope to prove the Gold Medalists wrong and make it two in a row, as they will look to continue to build on the momentum they have been gaining all season long. Also in the hunt this weekend will surely be the Olympic duo of Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal, who have yet to capture a title this season and are fresh off a bronze medal finish during FIVB play three weeks ago in Poland.
For the women, Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs will be the team to beat as they have won the last two events in a row and are 5-1 in championship matches this season. Looking to hand Branagh and Youngs their second loss of the season will be the team responsible for their first, Jen Kessy and April Ross. Kessy and Ross defeated Branagh and Youngs in Houston to claim their first domestic team title and recently captured the silver medal during FIVB play three weeks ago in Seoul, Korea.
