Olympic Gold Medalists Rogers and Dalhausser Advance
Main Draw Play Continues Saturday

The top-seeded women’s team of Elaine Youngs and Nicole Branagh eased past 16th-seeded Angela Lewis and Alicia Polzin, 21-17, 21-8, in its opening match.
Defending Olympic gold medalists Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser advanced easily Friday on the first day of the AVP Crocs Tour San Diego Presented by Johnsonville, needing just 42 minutes to sweep their opening match at Harrah’s Rincon Resort & Casino.
Dalhausser and Rogers, the top-seeded men’s team, beat Ty Loomis and 16th-seeded Casey Patterson, 21-15, 21-17 after earning a first-round bye. They’ll face 9th seeded Anthony Medel and Hans Stolfus in a 1 p.m. match Saturday, and will need to win three more matches to advance to Sunday’s final.

Vista High graduate Lisa Rutledge, the CIF San Diego Section Player of the Year in 1998, and teammate Brooke Hanson won their opening match. Seeded seventh, they topped Carlsbad High graduate Lauren Fendrick and Ashley Ivy, 21-14, 21-18.
The AVP Crocs Tour San Diego presented by Johnsonville, which marks the AVP Tour’s first-ever tournament at the Harrah’s Rincon, continues Saturday, with the men’s and women’s finals scheduled for Sunday.
