Reigning Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers moved through Friday play undefeated at the AVP Crocs Tour Atlanta Open.
Top-seeded Dalhausser/Rogers enjoyed a first-round bye, then beat 17th-seeded Adam Jewell and Albert Hannemann 18-21, 21-9, 15-11, to move into Saturday’s third round.
Dalhausser/Rogers will play ninth-seeded Pedro Brazao and Matt Prosser at 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
Top-seeded women’s team Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs also moved on unscathed after their first-round bye. They beat No. 17 team Raquel Caulkins and Paula Roca, 21-8, 21-12, to move on.
Branagh/Youngs will play 8th-seeded Barbra Fontana and Jenny Kropp at 12:15 p.m. Saturday. Branagh and Youngs, winners of four of the year’s first five tournaments, now have a 26-1 match record this season.
