Tyra Turner won her first AVP title last year at the San Diego Open and will look for a repeat this year with partner Angie Akers.
The 2009 AVP Crocs Tour continues on its third week as the tour makes its way to San Diego, California. The 2009 San Diego Open is sure to bring fans some extremeley exciting competition, as the AVP's best will take to the sand. On the men's side of competition, Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers look to capture their third straight title of 2009. While Dalhausser and Rogers have remained undefeated in championships matches this season, they have not done so without having to put up a fight. Fellow Olympians, Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal, have faced Dalhausser and Rogers in the first two finals of this season and have forced each match to a close three games. Heading into San Diego, Gibb and Rosenthal will be on the hunt for their first title of 2009 and will provide the reigning Gold Medalists with some tough competition.
Also looking to make it three in a row this weekend is the team of Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs. Branagh and Youngs have claimed the number one seed so far this season and after having won the first two events, have proved that they are a hard team to beat. Hoping to prove them wrong and take over the number one spot this weekend is the duo of Jenn Kessy and April Ross. Kessy and Ross have faced Branagh and Youngs in the first two finals of 2009 and are on the hunt for their first domestic title as a team. Another team that Branagh and Youngs will have to look out for is Angie Akers and Tyra Turner. Turner won her first career AVP title last year in San Diego and will look to repeat this year with partner Angie Akers.
