Those who have attended an AVP event already know that Misty May-Treanor is a dancer at heart.

Now, she's on a mission to reveal to the rest of the nation that she can move, not only on the sand, but on the dance floor too. It was announced on Monday that she, along with 12 other dancers, will compete on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," which will premier September 22.

May-Treanor has made an art form out of dancing on the sand. When she is introduced onto center court before a match, she likes to come through the tunnel and bust into a mini dance performance to get pumped up. While no one can categorize her style of dance into one type, it can best be described as a disco dancin', cowgirl lassoin', hip-hop steppin' jive.

But, don't begin to think that the two-time gold medalist will have a hard time learning choreographed steps to such dances as the Waltz.

This year on one of the AVP stops, May-Treanor made a surprise appearance during a Beach Girlz performance. The Beach Girlz are a girl-group that travels with the tour providing downtime entertainment by singing and dancing for the audience. May-Treanor wanted to give their routine a shot and the Girlz taught her the choreography to one of their songs. During her debut, she was perfectly in rhythm with the steps even though she had only learned them the night before.

May-Treanor will now have the chance to showcase her skills on national television just after the entire country watched her and partner, Kerri Walsh, take gold in Beijing.

Among her competitors are the NFL's Warren Sapp, 2000 Olympic gold medalist sprinter Maurice Green and R&B star Toni Braxton. However, if her 108 match winning streak carries over to the ballroom, there will be no stopping Misty May-Treanor.
