AVP Management
Jason Hodell - Mr. Hodell serves as CEO of the AVP. He previously served as CFO/COO of the AVP and on the AVP Board of Directors as Chair of the Audit Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of USA Volleyball.
Prior to the AVP, he was the Founder and Managing Partner of Plainview Capital, a private investment fund. He served as the Portfolio Manager of the firm's investment funds from inception in 2003 until joining the AVP in August 2008.
Mr. Hodell was previously the Senior Director of Business Operations at Digex, a publicly-traded managed IT services and complex web-hosting firm that was acquired by MCI in 2003. Mr. Hodell also served in the Technology Investment Banking group of JPMorgan, where he focused primarily on technology mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Hodell received his B.S. in Economics (Mathematical) from the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was awarded the Commandant's wreath for academic and military honors upon graduation. He served as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army and is Airborne Ranger qualified. He received his MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Mike Dodd - Mike Dodd serves as Commissioner of the AVP. He oversees all competition, athlete welfare and sport development. One of beach volleyball's all-time greats, Dodd won 75 titles in his illustrious 18-year career and a silver medal in the first Olympics to feature beach volleyball.
Dodd, fluent in Spanish and Italian, brings with him worldwide experience and recognition at the sport’s highest level. Since winning silver in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, he has worked the Olympic Games of 2000 as a beach analyst and 2004 as an indoor analyst for NBC. In 2008 Dodd coached AVP stars Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal in the Beijing Olympics. Dodd also captained Team USA to a win over Brazil’s best players in the inaugural AVP World Challenge in 2009.
Born and raised in Manhattan Beach, Dodd won five Manhattan Beach Open titles. In 2009 he became the first person to coach the men’s and women’s champions of the same Manhattan Beach Open (Gibb and Rosenthal and Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs). Dodd was named AVP Sportsman of the Year in 1994 and 1996 and AVP Most Inspirational Player three times in a row from 1995-1997. Since earning his AAA volleyball rating at age 15, Dodd has represented the U.S. National Team and played professionally in Italy in addition to his AVP career as a player and coach. He is in the California Beach Volleyball Association Hall of Fame.
Dodd attended San Diego State University, where he starred in volleyball for the Aztecs. He resides in Manhattan Beach with his wife, Patty, and daughters Dalas and Dominique.
Paul Tedeschi - Mr. Tedeschi serves as CMO of the AVP.
He founded Collegiate Advantage, a niche marketing firm focused on targeting college students, as a student at Boston University in 1988. In 1998, Collegiate Advantage was acquired by Student Advantage and Paul remained with SA for almost two years serving as VP of Partnership Development.
Paul then joined Woolf Associates, a Boston-based sports marketing firm, as Chief Marketing Officer in 1999 and moved to HOST Communications in 2001 as Senior VP of National Sales working on the NCAA Corporate Partner Program. In 2002, Paul co-founded Mr. Youth, a leading youth marketing agency based in NYC. Mr. Youth was recently listed to the prestigious Inc 500 List of the nation's fastest-growing private companies and is #16 on Promo Magazine's most recent PROMO 100. Paul served as CEO of Mr. Youth from inception until summer of 2008.
Paul is a graduate of Boston University's College of Communication and resides in Cohasset, MA, with his wife and two kids.
Justin Kamm - Mr. Kamm currently serves as an Executive Vice President with the AVP. Kamm recently joined RJSM Partners, a group that invests in special situations and early stage companies in the sports, entertainment and media industries. In particular, RJSM focuses on companies that promote a healthy and active lifestyle. In 2008, RJSM Partners made an investment into the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour and he was named Executive Vice President of the Tour. He is also a member of the AVP's Board of Directors and has worked in additional positions in both collegiate athletics and finance.
Kamm is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's degree in Economics as well as the University of Miami with a Master's degree in Sport Administration.
Matt Gage - Mr. Gage serves as Tour Director of the AVP, coordinating AVP volleyball competitions and serving as event Competition Director at all AVP events. He has worked for the AVP for more than 26 years and has been the AVP Tour's Competition Director since its inception. During this time Mr. Gage has created the AVP's officiating program. He wrote the first official AVP Rulebook.
Prior to the AVP, Mr. Gage played volleyball as an "Open" player and won 26 events, including the Manhattan Beach Open and three Hermosa Beach Opens, with nine different partners. He has won Open tournaments with greats such as Ron Von Hagen and Jim Menges and is considered a Legend of the game. He is in the Beach Volleyball Hall of Fame.
Mr. Gage received his B.S. in Business (Finance) from California State University at Long Beach.
Al Lau - Mr. Lau serves as Vice President of Sports Development and New Media at the AVP. He previously served as the Senior Director of Player Personnel. Al oversees all media, competition, and business affairs relating to the athletes on the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. Mr. Lau currently serves as the Chairman of the Nomination and Governance Committee of USA Volleyball.
Prior to the AVP, Mr. Lau was the Director of Business Development at Digital Media Campus, a private holding company that acquired and managed companies in the sports and entertainment industry. Mr. Lau was previously a consultant at KPMG.
Mr. Lau received his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University California Los Angeles. He was the Team Leader for the sport of beach volleyball at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics, where AVP athletes captured 3 Olympic Gold Medals.
David Williams - Mr. Williams is Vice President of Operations for the AVP and has produced more professional beach volleyball events than anyone else in the world. He previously served as Director of Market Development and Director of Tour Operations for the AVP. Mr. Williams has been involved in beach volleyball since 1997, when he served as Executive Director of the Women's Pro Beach Volleyball Association.
Prior to the AVP Mr. Williams served as Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing for 3D Shopping / O2 Essential Marketing Technology, a publically traded web hosting and marketing company that was the exclusive 3D image provider to Yahoo Shopping. Mr. Williams also served in executive management positions with Café Au Lait, Mauna Loa, and Pepsi.
Mr. Williams received his B.A. in Marketing & Organizational Communications from The Ohio State University, where he became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He is a life member of The Ohio State University President's Club.
Marc Werschkul - Marc serves as Executive Producer for the AVP. He oversees all aspects of more than 200 hours of original programming for the AVP's TV partners and AVP.com. The AVP's competition programming is seen in more than 100 million cable homes domestically and 30 countries internationally.
Prior to joining the AVP, Marc produced a series of National and Regional sports television Programs for FSN, including the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball lifestyle series “DiG.” Marc also covered the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, Angels, Kings, and USC and UCLA football at during his 8 years at FSN. Along the way, he captured four Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards prior to joining the AVP full-time in 2007.
Marc received his Bachelor’s degree from UCLA in Political Science. He is an avid San Diego Padres and Chargers fan and a self-proclaimed mediocre golfer but plays as much as possible. He also thinks guacamole is best served with breakfast.
Teresa Sequeira - Teresa serves as Controller for the AVP. With more than eight years of experience in sports and entertainment accounting, she oversees the company's financial processing and reporting. Her principle duties include establishing and maintaining internal business controls, preparing and interpreting financial reports, safeguarding the company's assets, and ensuring adherence to financial policy.
Prior to joining the AVP, Teresa held senior accounting positions at Warner Brothers and the Jim Henson Company. She prepared financial reports, reviewed affiliates' quarterly financial packages, worked with external auditors to complete annual audit and quarterly reviews, reviewed third-party royalties and participation reports, and assisted with local compliance before coming to the AVP in May 2005.
Teresa received her B.S. in Accountancy and Master's degree in Public Administration, earning both degrees with distinction from California State University of Northridge. Teresa is an associate member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Martha Gibbings - Martha serves as Vice President of Sponsorship for the AVP. She has been promoted to VP after joining the AVP in March 2008 as Director of Partnership and Events. Martha brings to the table more than six years of experience in the sports industry, focusing primarily in the sponsorship field.
Prior to joining the AVP in March of 2008, Martha's experience includes three successful years with the Boston Red Sox in a Sponsor Services role, where she worked with more than 70 Corporate Sponsors. In 2007, she contributed to the Red Sox' World Series-winning season.
Martha started her career in a Corporate Sponsorship role with the National Hockey League in Toronto, focusing on Corporate Sponsorship and Consumer Products Marketing.
Martha received her business degree from Queen's University in Ontario, Canada. A two-sport athlete at Queen's, Martha played varsity tennis and squash.
Geno Zincarelli - Geno serves as Senior Director of Sales and Partnerships for the AVP. He primarily oversees suite and sponsorship sales.
Prior to joining the AVP, Geno worked as Senior Director of Premium Sales at AEG – STAPLES Center for more than eight years. His department was the highest-grossing revenue generator in the company. Geno was responsible for premium revenues in excess of $120 million annually. Among his accomplishments there, he successfully opened The Home Depot Center, Sprint Center, Nokia Theatre LA Live and the Citizens Business Bank Arena. Geno also sold and promoted events such as the Rose Bowl, Grammy Awards, and the NBA and NHL All-Star games.
Geno received his B.A. in Business Administration and Finance from California State University of Fullerton. He and his wife, Christine, have two sons, Gavin and Dillon.
